About Us

The National Society of Software Engineers (NSOSE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting software engineers through community, ethics, professional development, and advocacy. We believe in building a strong professional society that empowers engineers to thrive in their careers while advancing the role of software engineering in society.

Position Overview

NSOSE is seeking passionate leaders to serve as Regional Directors. This is a volunteer leadership position that plays a critical role in representing the society at the regional level, fostering community engagement, and promoting the mission of NSOSE. Regional Directors will help establish local presence, build credibility, and provide insight into the needs of engineers in their region.

This is an excellent opportunity for professionals who want to lend their expertise, name, and leadership in support of a growing national organization.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the regional representative of NSOSE within your assigned area.
• Promote the mission and vision of NSOSE to local engineering professionals, organizations, and institutions.
• Support early initiatives to grow awareness, legitimacy, and membership in your region.
• Participate in periodic leadership calls with the national board.
• Act as an advisor, advocate, and connector for engineers in your area.
• Note: As the society grows, the role may evolve to include event planning, membership development, and advocacy initiatives.

Qualifications

• Commitment to advancing the software engineering profession.
• Willingness to lend your name and leadership in support of the organization’s mission.
• Strong professional reputation and credibility in the field of software engineering or related disciplines.
• Previous leadership, volunteer, or advocacy experience is a plus but not required.

Term & Commitment

• Volunteer role (no financial compensation at this time).
• Flexible commitment, with periodic calls and occasional representation of the society in your region.
• Term length: 1 year, renewable.
