The National Society of Software Engineers was founded with a vision to elevate the software profession across the U.S. through lifelong learning, community, and civic engagement.

Founded by Nathan Overbey, a full-stack engineer and systems architect, the society reflects his commitment to building technology that serves people and communities. Nathan's background spans startups and scaling environments, with experience in infrastructure, security, and software leadership.

Based in Ohio with his wife and two children, Nathan brings not just a career’s worth of engineering knowledge but also a deep dedication to uplifting the profession. Through NSOSE, he champions the idea that software engineers are more than just coders. They are mentors, collaborators, and civic leaders.
